The University area is awash with student's residents due to its perfect location, as within walking distance of both, Leeds city centre and Headingley, yet remains affordable accommodation for most. Woodhouse Lane is particularly popular with the Leeds University main campus entrance situated here. If you want to be in the midst of the University life style and parties then this is the area for you, with everything you could possible need right on your door step. But remember your neighbours will be students so don't expect any peace and quiet any time soon!

Public transport & road links

Don't have nightmares about college being the other side of town. Unlike other cities, both Leeds Met University and Leeds University are next to each other and within walking distance of the city centre. And with all the student accommodation located right behind, you'll be able to see and do everything.

For those travelling home from University regularly the M62, M6 and M1 are within easy reach of this Leeds district. You will be able to get home for the weekend without needing to change trains. Leeds is the busiest station outside London, and you can pretty much reach every destination in the UK.

For those who live abroad there is Leeds Bradford International Airport right on the doorstep.

Shops & businesses

With two universities right on top of each other, and a number of further education colleges, you are never far from a student-friendly bank, corner shop, off licence or late-night supermarket.

Leeds is fantastic for getting part-time and summer jobs. All those bars you drink in need bar staff, and as the city has a large number of call-centres, so staff willing to work unsociable hours are always in demand.


Leeds is the nightlife capital of the north with so many bars and clubs to choose from there is something to suit every taste, with small clubs and bars being popular here there is a local feel to the city.

Leeds University Union ' great place for bands, student nights and year end balls! Plus the LLU are affiliated to the National Union of Students, the largest democratic organisation in Europe. They represent you, whether to the University, the Council, the Government, community groups or the media and provide you with a range of services to make studying a little easier and a bit more fun.

Faversham ' not far away located on Springfield Mount this is a popular student hang out. Open 11am ' 2am, serving beers, and open for lunch seven days a week for that much needed Sunday roast. There's even a beer garden for those sunny summer afternoons.

Dry Dock (converted barge boat) ' on the edge of town, but usually crammed wall to wall and delivers a fresh mix of just about every musical genre going, indulging in classic tunes and modern chart toppers.

Fab Cafe - delivers student prices and a Star Wars theme.

Reform - your pub crawl hit list should also include this chic little outfit with enough sass, wit, and defiance to keep you coming back for more with a strangely masochistic determination.

Walkabout ' big sports bar on the edge of town for the big World Cup England games.
