When the working week is over and Friday night is upon us, there’s nothing that fits the bill more than a good takeaway. The trouble, though, is in the ridiculous amount of choice we have these days.
With that in mind, we’ve done the groundwork for you to make your evening even easier. Here are our picks of the best takeaways in Leeds:
1 The Crescent, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS6 2NW
0113 274 4422
This Moroccan and Mediterranean takeaway has been making something of a name for itself since 2002. Situated in Headingley, it’s a standout from all of the other student options in the area and it’s easy to see why when you experience their culinary skills for yourself.
Hyde Park: 75 Brudnell Grove, Leeds LS6 1HR
0113 274 0072
Chapel Allerton: 38 Harrogate Rd, Leeds LS7 4LA
0113 262 1460
If you haven’t got onto the gourmet, handmade burger craze yet, jump onto the Boss Burger bandwagon right away. Served in deliciously soft brioche buns, the Yorkshire-reared beef burgers are melt-in-your-mouth good.
93 Otley Rd, Leeds LS6 3PS
0113 278 2828
Ecco is a relatively new pizzeria in Headingley and it is magnificent. They use centuries-old wood-fired techniques to make some of the most authentic Neapolitan pizza you’ll ever have the pleasure of tasting.
Burt & Nelly
18 Stonegate Rd, Leeds LS6 4HY
0113 230 6565
Even newer than Ecco, Burt & Nelly has just recently opened up in Meanwood. Its mission is to bring New York-style pizza to the pizza-loving streets of Leeds and it’s doing so by sourcing all of its ingredients from the home of pizza itself: Italy.
2 Lincoln Rd, Leeds LS9 7NP
0113 243 6161
Gorge on the gorgeous Kurdish cuisine at Gzing and you’ll be telling the whole city about it for the rest of your life. This place doesn’t advertise at all, but it doesn’t need to; word of mouth sends hordes through its doors and onto its phone line week in, week out.
106 Town St, Pudsey LS28 6EZ
0113 255 5770
This is one of the top-rated takeaways on Just Eat, with nearly 1,000 reviews and a 5.5/6 star rating. That many Leeds locals can’t be wrong, can they? Give it a go; it might just be the best pizza you’ll ever eat.
140 Stanningley Rd, Leeds LS12 2RF
0113 279 7788
For an Indian takeaway with a reputation as faultless as its curries, choose Mother India of Stanningley Road. It’s a little out of the city, but that doesn’t matter when you’re getting it delivered. This would be worth waiting for a delivery from India itself; it’s that good.
La Besi Restaurant
211 Clarendon Rd, Leeds LS2 9DT
0113 244 1177
If you’re in the mood for a proper Italian, La Besi will not disappoint. Located in Woodhouse, its authentic menu features everything from calamari to Italian stroganoff, with, of course, all different types of delicious pasta and pizza in between.
Pizza House Company
Moortown: 302 Harrogate Rd, Leeds LS17 6NA
0113 266 6666
Guiseley: 8 Otley Rd, Guiseley, Leeds LS20 8AH
Yes, there’s a lot of pizza on this list, but that’s because Leeds’ takeaways really know how to make a good pizza. The Pizza House Company is no different. With locations in Moortown and Guiseley, it serves more or less the whole Leeds area, so everyone’s happy.
27A Chelwood Dr, Leeds LS8 2AT
0113 230 2200
Time Out reported last year that TripAdvisor users voted this Jewish-American spot the best place to eat in the whole of Leeds. It’s a deli-style eatery that rivals the sandwich height of New York greats like Carnegie’s and Katz Deli. You’d be a fool to ignore it.
