Due to its high ratio of quality bars, pubs and restaurants Headingley has long been the location of choice for students. There is a diverse range of properties from stone built terraces to large detached properties and Headingley provides all the amenities that you would normally find in a city centre.
Public Transport & Road Links
Headingley is conveniently located for both universities and Leeds City Centre. For those travelling home from University regularly the M62, M6 and M1 are within easy reach of this Leeds district.
Shops & Businesses
Headingley has its own shopping centre, the Arndale Centre, which incorporates Somerfield's, Superdrug, Greggs, Costa Coffee, KFC and a Post Office amongst many other shops. The area also benefits from several restaurants, boutique style shops and good old Starbucks.
Entertainment
Headingley is student central and there is a huge selection of great bars, pubs and restaurants to choose from. Some of our favourites are Trio, The Box, the Original Oak, Citrus and Bretts Fisheries.
-
Trio ' by far the most sophisticated bar in Headingley. The basement is the main bar area with plenty of seats and raised booths to sink into with your favourite drink. Upstairs is the restaurant serving a fine array of food for lunch and dinner. Finally, the jewel of the Trio crown must be Skippy's cocktail bar at the top. Some of the best cocktails in Leeds have been created here and you'd be mad to miss it!
-
The Box - one of the firm favourites and part of the Arc/Trio clan the Box sits firmly in the middle of the Headingley bar culture. A mixture of sports and music videos fill the plasma screens and the top floor is home to the ever-popular pool tables. You can bag a cheap meal and there are some great pizzas on offer too, plus breakfast all day!! Put your glad-rags on at the weekend though, there's plenty of singletons to impress!
-
Original Oak - an institution in its own right. The Original Oak never fails to impress. During the summer the green is filled with students burning as they drink, barbeques keep the revellers fed and the big screen shows all the big sports events. This is the place to go for Sunday Lunch, the carvery only costs around £6 and you can pile your plate with as much veg as physics will allow! Get there early or you'll go hungry!
-
Bretts Fisheries - this take away chip shop and restaurant is well worth a visit. Leeds has its fair share of fish and chip shops but not many are as good as here! A fish and chip supper on a Friday night can't be beaten!
-
Citrus - your parents are coming and you need somewhere sensible to go where there are no badly behaved students to spoil your dinner! Citrus is the place to go, it's always a winner with friends as you can take your own wine but it's just grown up enough to show your parents how mature you've become. And it's cheap! Upstairs you'll also find a pool room and bar so once the parents are packed off you can get back to the partying!
Sport
If you live in Headingley you will find all the sporting action you want, right on your doorstep. Headingley Stadium is home to Yorkshire Cricket Club, Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union. The Grand Theatre is home to Opera North, where you can see ballet, numerous west-end musicals and the best in performing arts. There is also The Civic Theatre, the famous City Varieties Theatre, and in complete contrast West Yorkshire Playhouse, which is innovative and definitely worth a visit.
